Claire Danes: Her Best Head of hair?

April 30th, 2012

Through the magic of Hulu, I’ve been watching old episodes of My So-Called Life, the mid-’90s Tv series that made Claire Catherine Danes (delivered April 12, 1979) a star.

Claire only agreed to be 15 years old whenever she landed the role of Angela Chase on the show, which followers loved for its genuineness, but her function was short-lived as the display only lasted a season. Despite the short term, it earned your ex an Emmy nomination and received her a Fantastic Globe.

Life like a teenage actress generated her first onscreen make out, which incidentally transpired before her very first one in real life. Be aware: I wouldn’t grumble if 1) my first kiss has been with Jordan Catalano and 2) they paid me to do it, haaaay.

After the demonstrate ended, Claire’s profession took off, with functions in more than 24 films, including Minor Women, Romeo + Juliet (with Leonardo) and much more recently Stardust, opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Delaware Niro.

FUN FACT: Claire turned down the role regarding Rose Dewitt Bukater in Titanic ship, which later attended Kate Winslet.

On a bizarre take note, Claire is a bit notorious between Filipinos as a result of remarks that appeared inside a 1998 article regarding Vogue. Claire’s responses led to her being declared persona non-grata from the government of the country.

My spouse and i still remember the e-mails through my mom with the subject line, “BAN CLAIRE DANES!!!” and thinking, “Who cares did Angela Chase obtain herself into?”

While I forgive your ex for her comments regarding my birthplace (your woman was just 19 at the time), as a die-hard Terminator fan, I’ll NEVER forgive her for Terminator 3: Climb of the Machines, bluh!

Los Lobos Live on

April 27th, 2012

East LA favorites Los Lobos retuned to today for an excellent set of music from their new album “Tin May Trust.” They’re 40 years within their career, and they are really rockin’!

The band paid tribute to a music performer they love – Jey Garcia, who passed on 15 years ago. The band tinkered with the Grateful Dead in 1988, jamming together on “West L.A. Fadeaway,” and they included a protective cover of the song on their fresh album. For a Dead lover like myself, it was the highlight of today’s performance, because was their performance involving “Burn It Down.” The observe is getting heavy airplay here at the particular station and I never withdraw of hearing it. Just an incredible song. Check it out down below and hear/watch the full performance inside our archives.

p.s.:   Jer told me after the show that Shedd Lobos asked about a band they heard earlier on MBE who they really liked. Turns out it was Deeper My Love, whose brand new album is really reminiscent of late ’60s era folk/psychedelia and the Thankful Dead.  Interesting, isn’t that?

Classical Music » Musical Sweatshop?

April 27th, 2012
Possibly not quite a sweatshop. But years ago, millions of unemployed and underemployed Far eastern European musicians enabled one record label to create CDs by the dozen, offering them at low prices although still enjoying a good return. That label has since expanded to a major player in the classical music world.

Today Hollywood filmmakers and London game producers are finding that getting their soundtracks recorded offshore can help to conserve them big money. One company requires them with Czech musicians, who are usually paid one-seventh to one-fifth what their US and UK counterparts make.

Rachel McAdams: Her Best Head of hair?

April 26th, 2012

I think Rachel McAdams (born Rachel Anne McAdams upon November 17, The late seventies in Ontario, North america) pretty much rocks.

I am talking about, c’mon — what’s to not like? She gets factors from me for having the guts to wear green hair (you go, young lady!). That, and she starred inside the Notebook, one of our all-time favorite flicks.

Rachel’utes been acting given that 12 but didn’big t get her large break until witty Rob Schneider’s The recent Chick. Then came Mean Girls (bear in mind her in that?).

Her career’s been on a good upswing lately, along with Forbes magazine recently called her the third nearly all Bankable Actress in Hollywood.

As for her curly hair, Rachel’s locks are as varied since the characters she takes on, with styles throughout bunches of different colors and lengths.

P.S. I’m here at the airport in San Francisco waiting for my flight… Only don’t check back set for a few hours, have a excellent day.

Dress Use #14: Pasta Strainer

April 23rd, 2012
I am challenged by food. I understand we don’t all try this being a parent, because I am aware kids that will eat anything, however i think the majority of us cater a lot of to your kids’ tastes for food. Furthermore, i think many of us result in the mistake of assuming such a child will or won’t eat and for that reason don’t introduce these to things they’d likely eat. We have the hardest time getting my kids to acknowledge a meal that they can both eat also it is irrelevant while we are eating in or out. After i was by myself I really wished to make an effort to limit eating out and i believe I have done OK in that area. Once i would be a kid it was such a treat when our parents would take us out to eat or would order food out to bring in. We have good kids but they don’t appreciate going out to restaurants like One time i did.

Finding out things to feed my children in the home hasn’t been simple for me. Breakfasts are easy thanks to cereal and lots of stuff you can play a toaster. I have already been accused of feeding my children dessert in the morning . . . Toaster Strudels. I disputed that accusation until monthly approximately ago when after dinner among my kids asked me if they may have a Toaster Strudel rather than frozen treats for dessert. Thx they are beginning to eat more meat because something I will do is grill. I think I really could actually manage with no oven – I just have a stove top, a microwave, plus a grill. I grill all of my meat but am also believing that anything else may be cooked about the grill by simply wrapping it in aluminum foil, even broccoli.

Shopping for groceries gets tricky as soon as your children are together with you 50 % of weekly. I think I’m finally to the stage now where We have the milk and fruit order portions dialed in so that I do not waste a lot of food. Pasta can be a major staple in my house and my children request Spongebob mac ‘n cheese, not the boring ordinary variety. Spongebob is cool.

I came across the interior mesh portion of clothes works well for straining pasta.

Solo Corset Fun: How you can Lace Yourself Way up

April 21st, 2012

As a lifelong lover of corsets, I’m super excited about today’s guest post. We all know corsets tend to be sexy and gorgeous, but they can also be a bit intimidating. And while it is easier if you have an associate around to help you in to one, that may not invariably be an option. Fortunately Maggie, author of the educational site Swimwear & Corset lingerie and the blog Swimming wear & Lingerie has some terrific advice for us…detailed with useful charts as well as illustrations.

Corsets are a intriguing piece of lingerie. If you’d like to learn more about them, I propose purchasing the book Corsets: The Cultural History through Valerie Steele. If you’d like to buy one, then check out this classic Lingerie Addict post featuring some of the best corset designers

My name is Maggie, and i’m very excited to be posting about corsets along with a do-it-yourself attitude on the Lingerie Addict. One of the most popular aspects of lingerie may be the element of surprise. My own day is instantly brightened with the sheer excitement of wearing something that is a bit out of the ordinary. The luxurious feel of the fabric and the boost for you to my posture by no means fails to put a little extra strut in my movements. However, it is the expectancy of the big expose later on that really pleasures.

But the big uncover moment is far much less exciting when you need aid putting on the underwear in the first place. Let’s be realistic, there are some less than glamorous aspects to getting in to something tight along with lacy that can eliminating the mood. For example, I’ve yet to figure out how you can put on stockings and adjust them in a balmy way; frankly My spouse and i resemble a line worker in a sausage manufacturing plant.

So, when I purchased my first corset, I used to be baffled as to how I was going to get the disgusting thing on and also properly fit not having someone around to lace me way up. I was interested in basically wearing a corset just for fun and frolics and not a significant tight-lacing, waist trainer, thus my needs were not as stringent as their own. After struggling quite a bit and actually having to its polar environment my back following pinching my skin color, I have come up with a foolproof technique that ensures a nice tight lacing and also a comfy fit.

1: Check that your Corset is actually laced properly. Often they are laced at a shop by people who don’big t understand the intricacies associated with corsetry. For example, there should be X’ersus on both the inside as well as outside of the corset, the X’ersus should not go relating to the fabrics when firmly laced. This is how pinches can happen my buddies, plus it hampers your tightening of the corset and prevents a pleasingly level closure.

You will want to rely your eyelets and be aware where the middle of the corset can be, relative to where the natural waist collection falls. When threading and lacing your corset you are going to stop at the mid-point and build an extra long trap of slack on them. Continue lacing as ahead of, ensuring that the loops remain at the middle. If you reach the bottom from the corset pull the shoelaces through to the outside and also tie a knot in each on the very end of the wide lace top.

Step two: Before putting on the actual corset ensure that the back lacing isn’capital t so tight that you simply can’t do it up at the front and isn’capital t so loose that it’s going to fall off or have an overabundance of than a 2-3 inch difference between the back cells.

Step 3: Starting at the pinnacle and arranging your current breasts as you go, carry out up the hook and also eye closures completely. Today revisit grade several and see if you can actually touch your arm behind your back (I fell just for this gag sadly), really, stretch out a bit because you need to be able to tie up your laces guiding your back. It will be possible to tell right away if your corset is too tight or even loose in spots during this procedure. If it is the case, take off the corset and adjust the lacing in those trouble spots. Seems tedious, I am aware, but it is all worth the cost!

Step 4: Once you have attained a mostly excellent fit, it is time to achieve around and move on the rabbit hearing you created in the centre. This will cinch in the back and can end up being fastened with a good previous knot and a bow. Voila you have efficiently laced yourself into a corset. See? You really did learn everything you ever required to know kindergarten.

But wait. You’re not done nevertheless, try bending and moving around. You want to be comfortable in your lingerie and also a full range of movement is important for that, as is breathing in. If you feel overly impeded in a direction, think about loosening your remains and giving your little extra shake room. After all, you are wearing the corset, don’to let it wear anyone! Now when you lose the corset, just ease the bunny-knot a bit then undo the hook and eye the front closures. That way your corset is laced to your specifications and ready to go for the next time. Don’t you feel proud? Learn about it all by yourself!

Now get to the boudoir and check out it out. With all come july 1st heat, you should be sporting your underwear as outerwear and enjoying your curves.

Classical Music » Number One – the Download

April 14th, 2012
How much longer will we count on finding racks associated with CDs at our local shops – or even at the webshops? I ought to wonder when the current primary classical recording on the Billboard Established chart is a release currently available only as a electronic digital download. It’s the DG Live shows release of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, performed from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The conductor is the much-discussed young Venezuelan, Gustavo Dudamel, that will take over that orchestra because music director in 2009.

DG Concert events is Deutsche Grammophon’s download brand. Although DG have garnered some media for their non-DRM releases of a number of recordings, the Dudamel recording seems to be available only through I-tunes. Those of us who prefer our music downloads unencumbered by use constraints are apparently out of luck.

It’s not clear whether DG will ever problem the Dudamel Symphonie Fantastique on CD, yet it’s hard to imagine that they’deborah pass up the additional revenue from those who prefer the older format’s better sound and greater flexibility. Despite classical downloads’ sales expansion, classical CD sales continue to be holding up appreciably better than that relating to pop CDs.
